Vernon Delpesce founded Vedco, Inc., an independent consulting firm, in February of 2016. He currently works with nonprofit organizations, both locally and nationally, assisting them with their financial development strategy and building organizational capacity. Vedco also serves as a strategic partner with American City Bureau to offer the the most comprehensive service available in campaign consulting.
Prior to launching Vedco Consulting, Vernon spent the previous fourteen years (2002-2015) serving as President/CEO of the YMCA of Greater Des Moines, an association with eleven branches, 65,000 active members, 1400 employees, and a $24 MM operating budget. During his tenure the association grew from 30,000 members to 65,000, completed $70 MM in capital projects, and pioneered a medically integrated model of health and wellness at the Healthy Living Center.
Vernon lives in West Des Moines, is married and has two adult children. He is a graduate of the University of Houston with a degree in Health and Physical Education. He serves on several local boards including Des Moines University’s Advisory Committee for Masters of Public Health, Simpson College’s Advisory Committee for Health Care Administration, and the Above and Beyond Cancer Board.
Previous experience includes serving as the Chief Operating Officer for the Toledo, Ohio YMCA (1996-2002), National Field Consultant for YMCA of the USA (1992-1996), and various positions with the YMCA of Greater Houston (1976-1991). In addition to his extensive leadership experience, he is also a certified health coach.

Lauren Delpesce joined Vedco in 2018 as Director of Client Relations. Lauren brings a wealth of experience in many areas including fundraising, donor relations and cultivation, campaign organization and implementation, and writing. Before staying at home and raising two children, Lauren had a 10 year professional career with the YMCA. In 2010 she took on the role of Development Director of a small private Christian school in Des Moines and developed and implemented a successful annual campaign for four years. Since then Lauren has been doing freelance writing for an experienced philanthropic advisor to major donors and non-profit organizations. Lauren understands and can assist clients in writing a compelling story for their organization, as well as grant writing assistance and making sure all clients’ financial development strategies are met.
Lauren lives in West Des Moines with her husband Vernon, and has two grown children. She has served on the Board of Camp Hertko Hollow as well as the Des Moines YMCA Camp Program Committee, Valley Church’s planning committee for Night to Shine, and has served in numerous volunteer capacities with her children’s school and church.
